Felicia’s journey into the health and wellness field began over ten years ago as a personal trainer.

Throughout those years she developed the belief that wellness was more than about the physical body, and to achieve overall wellness the mind and spirt aspects must be taken into consideration too. This belief is what lead her to further her education towards taking a more holistic approach to her client’s well-being, graduating from CSNN as a Holistic Nutritionist in 2013 and completing her Reiki Second Degree in 2018.

On a more personal level, Felicia became a mom to a baby girl in 2011. Her girl is her biggest inspiration to continuously move forward to be the best version of herself. Eventually, this inspiration led her to train herself and others for various fitness events like, Femsport, and Tough Mudder.

Over those eight years she learned her most valuable lessons of leadership, and most importantly the value of teamwork.

While all these experiences contributed to her decision to pursue a career in massage therapy, a close look into her dear friend’s journey with cancer played a substantial role in this final decision. During that time, she witnessed many health care professionals cross her friend’s path, however, the effects the massage therapist had on her friend’s well-being were most memorable. It was during these appointments that her friend experienced the longest periods of momentary mental peace and physical relief. Witnessing this ignited in Felicia an even deeper passion to support others along their health and wellness journey.

Taylor is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).

At a young age, she remembers being interested in massage through her auntie, who was taking a course at the time, and from there her curiosity only stemmed. Throughout school, she was always an avid learner enjoying sciences, maths and playing team sports. However, later in life found a deeper enjoyment in inquiring to slow down and notice how the body and mind are connected.

Therefore, this led her to dive into yoga as a dedicated student, and proved to be very helpful in her personal life, aiding to give her the tools to be more aware, less reactive and more kind to herself. To deepen her knowledge even further, she completed her Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in Costa Rica of 2018, with the intention to share this practice with others and allow more people to find the peace that yoga brings her.

The marriage of yoga and massage happened organically when Taylor took a Yin Yoga Training, further learning about the muscles, fascia and holding patterns of the body and realized how much she enjoyed diving into the anatomy of the human body in this YTT. Taylor treats each human being as a dynamic individual, looking into their particular needs and listening to their goals. She enjoys and feels honoured in being part of someone’s path to become more connected to their body, mind and soul and aid in facilitating someone’s healing journey.

Since a young age, I always knew I wanted to help people. As I grew up and went through my own hardships, the field of counselling became more intriguing every day. Learning about the brain was something I was drawn to since high school, as it plays a critical role in human life and mental health. I have been in the field of mental health and counselling for about 7+ years and primarily work with children, youth, and young adults. It takes a lot of courage to start counselling and by providing a safe, open, and stable place to start this journey, is an imperative part of my practice. Another focus of mine is to ensure support, guidance, and empowerment to the clients I work with. Being able to work alongside clients and watch their progress/growth, is such a rewarding experience. I believe that it is important for a counselor to respect the client’s autonomy and to work collaboratively with them, throughout the counselling journey. During the therapeutic process, showing compassion, empathy, honesty, active listening, flexibility and a judgement free zone, could guide a deeper connection and conversation to be had. I strongly feel by meeting the clients where there at, finding out there needs, and adjusting accordingly, can improve the overall outcome of counselling.

Approaches to Counselling:

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Nature-Based Therapy (Ecotherapy). I utilize a Biopsychosocial approach, which means I consider the Biological, Psychological, and Social Factors that contribute to clients.

Areas of counselling practice

Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Traumatic Events, PTSD, Managing Anger and Emotions, Life Transition, Low Self-Esteem, Habit Change and Formation, Relationship Concerns, Grief and Loss.

Carmen is a Registered Reflexology Therapist with the Reflexology Association of Canada. She is certified in Foot Reflexology and has completed 2 of 3 modules towards her ‘Dien Chan’ Facial Reflexology certification. Carmen has a wealth of knowledge to offer her client’s having practiced as a Registered Nurse for 35 years, focusing on Community Mental Health and Advanced Foot Care. She has a true passion for the human condition and seeks to find what the elements are that create each individual’s body, mind and spirit, while helping them meet their spectrum of health needs.

Carmen’s understanding of the importance of regulating the body, so it can heal and restore itself led her to the practice of Reflexology. Through acupressure of the reflex points, the body is able to activate it’s parasympathetic nervous system and dive into deep rest and relaxation. Also known as the ‘rest & digest’ state. This activation of the PSNS allows the breath and heart rate to slow, blood pressure to lower, and improves digestion. Reflexology Therapy is an incredible anxiety and stress reliever, body-regulation experience, and self care treatment. It is also a wonderful supportive therapy when healing from or being treated for other serious health conditions.

Carmen has learned from balancing her nursing career, owning her own business and raising a family the importance of self care. With age and experience comes wisdom. Practicing an alternative natural therapy so she can continue to help others through their healing journey, Carmen sees as a blessing. She is a proud resident of Chilliwack and feels fortunate to be practicing Reflexology Therapy in the Fraser Valley. Carmen enjoys an active lifestyle with her husband, and you will often find them in the stands cheering on the local football teams or out socializing with friends in one of Chilliwack’s great restaurants.
